A letter of no confidence - Una carta de ninguna confianza

Dear Dr. Amerigo,

Thank you for your e-mail advising of your proposed candidacy for the Presidency of the Community.

As you requested, I have taken the time to it  read carefully  and consider your manifesto.

While I support your objectives,  I can have no confidence in any further negotiations you may hold with Luis Martinez and his family. Any negotiations and agreements you enter into with Martinez will almost certainly turn out to be meaningless and worthless. I’m afraid that all my experience and what I know about the way the Martinez family have lied to us and misled us all over the years, with so many broken promises, abuses of their position and the way they have sought to maintain control over the resort and  owners, their illegal actions and financial improprieties/irregularities, misuse and improper  use of community assets - it all means we can have no trust in anything Martinez says or promises.

Martinez will use your candidacy to further delay any possible legal resolution such as that which the community is about to commence. And I fear that one year on, we will still be no further forward or closer to a resolution. Martinez’s tactics in the past have been to pretend to negotiate and delay and to keep the community divided.

Unfortunately, although you of course have every right  to stand for president, your candidacy will split the community just when it most needs to be united.

Should you be successful in your candidacy, I wish you every success. But, be warned of what awaits you.....!

Gracias por su e-mail presentándose como candidato a la presidencia de la
Comunidad.

Como usted pidió, me he tomado mi tiempo para leerlo cuidadosamente su
declaración de intenciones.

Aunque comparto totalmente sus objetivos, no tengo ninguna confianza en
mantener ninguna conversación más con Luis Martínez o su familia. Cualquier
tipo de negociación o acuerdo que al que llegues con Luis Martínez ya verás
que no tiene efecto ninguno y carece de valor. Me temo que tengo mucha
experiencia en las formas en que la familia Martínez nos ha mentido y
engañado durante años, con infinidad de promesas rotas, abusos de poder y
diversas formas de aferrarse a al control del resort y sus propietarios,
ilegalidades e irregularidades financieras, uso indebido de zonas comunes – todo esto lleva a que no tengamos ninguna confianza en lo que Martínez diga o prometa.

Martínez usará tu candidatura para retrasar cualquier tipo de resolución legal, como la que la Comunidad está a punto de comenzar. Y mucho me temo que dentro de un año no estaremos más cerca de una solución, ni siquiera en mejor posición. La táctica que Martínez ha llevado a cabo en el pasado ha sido la de simular una negociación para así retrasarla y mantener a la Comunidad dividida.

Desafortunadamente, a pesar de que tienes todo el derecho de presentarte a Presidente, tu candidatura dividirá a la Comunidad justo en el momento en que más necesita estar unida.

Si tuvieras éxito con tu candidatura, te deseo lo mejor. Pero no sabes lo que te espera…!
